The ship with 589 people, including 250 women and children, had started from the Turkish coast. Nine days later, and after sailing with no purpose and clear destination so as in a great danger too, it was rescued by the Greek authorities. According to the preliminary information the survivors came from different countries as Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. 60 people were diagnosed with health problems, among them a pregnant woman, who was transferred to the closest hospital. The rest of the travelers were transferred to the Stadium of the city Ierapetra, in Crete.
It is remarkable to be mentioned the great contribution of the volunteers and the response of the local people so as the effective response of the involved organizations and institutions.

Το ΕΦΠ ευχαριστεί τους εθελοντές και τους φορείς για την προσφορά τους.
Το πλοίο με 589 ψυχές, μεταξύ των οποίων 250 γυναίκες και παιδιά, είχε ξεκινήσει από τις τουρκικές ακτές. Μετά από 9 μέρες περιπλάνησης, ενώ ήταν ακινητοποιημένο και σε μεγάλο κίνδυνο, διασώθηκε από τις Ελληνικές αρχές. Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες πληροφορίες οι διασωθέντες κατάγονται από διάφορες χώρες όπως Συρία, Αφγανιστάν, Ιράκ και Ιράν. 60 άτομα εντοπίστηκαν με προβλήματα υγείας, ανάμεσα τους μια έγκυος γυναίκα διεκομίσθει στο νοσοκομείο της περιοχής. Οι υπόλοιποι μεταφέρθηκαν στο κλειστό γυμναστήριο της Ιεράπετρας.
Είναι αξιοσημείωτη η προσφορά των εθελοντών και η ανταπόκριση των κατοίκων καθώς και η έγκυρη και αποτελεσματική αντίδραση των εμπλεκόμενων οργανισμών και φορέων.
Το ΕΦΠ αποτελούμενο από κοινότητες προσφύγων στην Ελλάδα ευχαριστεί όλους για την πολύτιμη προσφορά και βοήθειά τους.
